Understanding Fragrance Notes – Top, Heart, and Base Notes Explained
Every good perfume is like a small composition of three layers – the so-called fragrance pyramid.
Top note – the first impression
You perceive the top note immediately after application. It is fresh and light, but dissipates after 15–30 minutes. Typical notes include citrus or fruity scents like blackcurrant.
Heart note – the character
After the top note, the heart of the fragrance unfolds. It defines the character and lasts for several hours. Here you often find floral notes like freesia and rose.
Base note – the lingering scent
The base is the foundation and remains on the skin the longest. Warm, woody, or sweet notes like Ambroxan, patchouli, or vanilla provide depth and longevity.
What does this mean for pheromone perfumes?
Pheromone perfumes also follow this structure. When you read the note descriptions on our product pages, you immediately know how a fragrance develops throughout the day. A great example is the PheroStrong Limited Edition for Women with its clearly defined fragrance pyramid.
