Science of Pheromones
Pheromones: The Key to Attraction
Pheromones, derived from the Greek word "excitation transmitter," are volatile chemical compounds that influence our interpersonal communication. They are found in many organisms - from animals and plants to humans - and act specifically between individuals of the same species. Through pheromones, we send subtle signals that increase our attraction and the interest of the opposite sex.
Research from the Vienna Institute for Urban Ethology shows that human body odors convey valuable information about our emotional state. When our olfactory receptors detect pheromones, we often react unconsciously, which leads to positive interactions. These chemical messages are particularly effective in social situations where trust and harmonious relationships are required - be it in everyday life, at work or at social events.
Pheromones exert their effect on a subconscious level and influence the behavior of others without them actually perceiving the specific scent. Interestingly, it is believed that the intensity of our pheromones would be increased if we did not use cosmetics.
Male and female pheromones
Both endogenous and synthetically produced pheromones can create attraction and elicit positive reactions. They belong to the group of steroids and are found in adrenal hormones as well as in male and female sex hormones.
Male pheromones:
- Androstenol : Emits a musky scent and is attractive to women.
- Androstenone : Has a sweet, vanilla-like smell and is associated with dominance.
- Androsterone : Promotes dominance and authority and enhances the effects of other pheromones.
- Androstadienone : Odorless in low concentrations, it affects the brain in subtle ways.
Female pheromones:
- Estratetraenol : An odorless compound that stimulates psychophysiological responses.
- Copulins : Short-chain fatty acids that are produced in increased quantities during fertile phases and act as sex pheromones.
PheroStrong Pheromones – The Secret of Attraction
People who secrete a lot of pheromones are often considered particularly attractive, regardless of their outward appearance. This attraction can evoke deeper feelings such as love and lust, explains chemist Leszek Konopski, PhD, of the Institute of Organic Industry in Warsaw.
In today's hectic world, our natural pheromones can be weakened by various lifestyle factors, making interpersonal relationships and interaction with others difficult.
